An Agreement on Partnership Cooperation for the project Prevention as a Guarantee was signed at the premises of the WMG Foundation in Belgrade between the WMG Foundation and The Milica Women’s Centre. The agreement was signed by Irena Petrović, Director of the WMG Foundation, and Vesna Bondžić, President of The Milica Women’s Centre.
Through this partnership, the WMG Foundation, as the project leader, reinforces its commitment to improving public health by raising awareness of the importance of preventive check-ups and early disease detection. The Milica Women’s Centre will provide support through its professional expertise, focusing on educational and advisory activities aimed at preventing breast cancer.
Irena Petrović, Director of the WMG Foundation, emphasised the significance of this collaboration: “Prevention as a Guarantee is one of the projects implemented by our WMG Foundation in collaboration with its partners. Our goal is to raise public awareness about the importance of preventive health check-ups and contribute to reducing the statistics that place us among the leading countries in Europe for female mortality from breast cancer. This is primarily because the disease is often detected too late. The partnership with the Women’s Centre ‘Milica’ is significant because we believe that, together, we can make a meaningful contribution to long-term societal change. In 2025, the project will focus on the prevention of breast cancer and many other malignancies, such as ovarian, cervical, lung, and prostate cancers, as well as cardiovascular diseases. This will be achieved through educational campaigns, workshops, panel discussions, conferences, and various other activities. Our aim is to empower both women and men and encourage them to adopt healthy lifestyle habits, as timely prevention is the key to a long and quality life.”
On this occasion, Vesna Bondžić highlighted that prevention and early diagnosis can save lives. “We are delighted that today, by signing this agreement with the WMG Foundation, we have officially established cooperation on the Prevention as a Guarantee project. This step marks a pivotal moment in our fight for women’s health because when cancer is detected early, the chances of recovery are as high as 95%. Together with our partners, we are working to ensure that every woman, regardless of her circumstances, has equal access to preventive check-ups and information that can save her life. Women today are no longer passive in this fight – they want to protect their health and lives. Through this collaboration, our goal is to eliminate the fear of medical check-ups and ensure that all women have access to the necessary information and diagnostic services. No real progress can be made alone, but together we can create better conditions for prevention and treatment, as well as improve the quality of life for women already undergoing treatment.”
