#ForTheStrengthOfTheHeart: We Supported the Serbia Business Run in Belgrade

This year’s Serbia Business Run event in Belgrade, through the WMG Foundation’s project Prevention as a Guarantee, was also supported by AstraZeneca, once again underlining the importance of prevention, health awareness, and social responsibility.

The Belgrade Business Run, held on 25 September at Ada Ciganlija, brought together as many as 9,337 employees from 496 companies, along with support from 600 spectators. The event forms part of the largest series of races for business professionals in the region, having thus symbolized the blend of sporting spirit, business ties, and social responsibility since 2016.

The race was also supported by AstraZeneca, a global biopharmaceutical company making a key contribution to the discovery, development, and distribution of innovative medications. In Serbia, it focuses on therapies for cardiovascular, renal, metabolic, and respiratory diseases, as well as oncology.

AstraZeneca states: “Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are the leading cause of death in Serbia, as well as globally, claiming more lives than all forms of cancer taken together. There are many different types of cardiovascular disease—some have a better prognosis, while others’ is worse. Heart failure is one of the cardiac conditions with the worst prognosis.

“Prevention is a key step in reducing the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases. A balanced diet, regular physical activity, and avoiding harmful habits such as smoking and excessive alcohol consumption can significantly contribute to maintaining health and preventing cardiovascular illness. Daily physical activity can help us preserve the strength of our heart. That’s why it’s important that today, with all our heart, we run for the strength of the heart. #ForTheStrengthOfTheHeart – AstraZeneca,” they conclude.

In that spirit, the 5 km course allowed participants of various fitness levels to join the challenge and contribute to this effort at their own pace. At the finish line, participants were greeted with support and gift packages, ensuring thus a good time for all, regardless of their final result. This once again confirmed that the business community and socially responsible companies can together contribute to a healthier future.

The promotion of employee health and team spirit also united the Wireless Media Foundation with its partner, AstraZeneca.
