Founding of the WMG Foundation and launch of the EUpravo zato platform

The company WMG (Wireless Media Group) has established the WMG Foundation, whose aim is to encourage sustainable development, strengthen civil society and improve mutual understanding between Serbia, the Western Balkans and the European Union. Within the foundation, the communication platform EUpravo Zato was also presented, an initiative that brings projects, investments and initiatives of the European Union in Serbia closer to citizens in a clear, accessible and relevant manner.

On this occasion, a gala dinner was organised in Belgrade gathering more than 300 guests from the worlds of politics, diplomacy, business, academia and the civil sector. The event was an opportunity for an open dialogue on the importance of communication, partnership and mutual understanding in the process of European integration.

The central part of the program consisted of a panel discussion dedicated to the role of the media, the business community and institutions in strengthening trust and transparency in relations between Serbia and the European Union. Within the program, a one-on-one conversation was also held with the Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia Emanuele Giaufret, who spoke about the importance of strategic partnership, reform processes and the concrete benefits that European initiatives bring to the citizens of Serbia.

The Director of the WMG Foundation, Irena Petrović, emphasized that the founding of the foundation represents a logical continuation of the company’s long-standing commitment to sustainability and social development projects.

“The founding of the WMG Foundation represents a natural continuation of the long-standing commitment of the WMG company to sustainability and social development projects. The foundation is part of our strategic transformation and a clear intention to contribute even more strongly to the development of the society in which we operate. By launching the EUpravo Zato platform we wish to improve mutual understanding and strengthen trust and partnership between Serbia, the Western Balkans region and the European Union. Our goal is to contribute to the building of a self-sustainable society, the attainment of European standards and the strengthening of global competitiveness,” stated Irena Petrović, Director of the WMG Foundation.

Speaking about the importance of communication and dialogue in the process of European integration, the founder and president of the management board of WMG, Igor Žeželj, emphasized that understanding is a key prerequisite for building stable partnerships.

“Mutual understanding of all actors on the European path of Serbia and the Western Balkans is crucial for building trust and stable partnerships. In practice we often see that misunderstanding and insufficiently clear communication are obstacles to progress. Therefore, through the EUpravo Zato platform we wish to contribute to higher-quality dialogue and continuous education. As a company, we will continue through our resources and expertise to support the development of Serbia and the region as stable, responsible and reliable partners in building a sustainable Europe,” stated Žeželj.

Among others, the event was attended by Ana Brnabić, Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, Tanja Miščević, Minister for European Integration of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, H.E. Emanuele Giaufret, Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia, and H.E. Christopher Hill, Ambassador of the United States to Serbia. Via video message, Oliver Várhelyi, European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood, as well as James O’Brien, Assistant Secretary of State of the United States for European and Eurasian Affairs, also addressed the audience, expressing support for the work of the foundation and the importance of open dialogue and high-quality communication in the process of European integration.

The event further confirmed the commitment of the WMG Foundation to contributing to better public information and the strengthening of Serbia’s European perspective through strategic initiatives, dialogue and partnerships.
